THE SEA

Life began in a tiny boat
Two on board, struggling to stay afloat.
Two went to sea, holding to each other
They held so tight, they would almost smother.
The sea was vast -- dangers, above and below
Out to conquer the sea, the two did go.
The two faced the sea, each having great fear.
The two felt a comfort, when the other was near.
The two rode the seas, both day and night;
They felt destiny was controlling their plight.
As the waves would swell and the sea would blow,
Into each others arms, the other would go.
Protecting each other from the dangers of the sea,
Feeling inside, "If I lose you ------ I lose me."
One to each other, they made a pledge
"I will save you my love, should you go over the edge."
"I will fight the waters and the ocean so deep."
"So you will be mine ----- mine to keep."
The journey went on through time and space
Each finding a peace, in the others face.
A calm besieged the sea one day -
The storm of "life", was on its way.
The storm was black, like the darkest night.
The storm was the biggest they would ever fight.
The storm struck swiftly, with a mighty blow;
Over the edge -- the two did go.
Into the swirling winds – striking in bands,
Each held tightly to the others hands.
With no hands free to keep them afloat
And no place of safety in the tiny boat.
The two looked at each other, with tears in their eye
"If we don’t let go, we will surely die!"
Their hands slipped apart, with agony and fear.
"Can I survive this storm, without my partner near?"
"No hands to hold me – to help me fight"
"No hands to touch me – in the lone of the night."
Their hands slipped apart, with skin under their nails.
Each had to swim and look for some sails.
Sails of safety – individually the must go.
Will their hands touch again? -- only the future does know.
Deep in their hearts, there will always be,
A love for each other ----- They fought the sea!
