Ember of Night
_______
Covered by the veil of
darkness
I observe a twinkle - I watch a glow.
I watch you rise on your merry way,
flickering the index to beckon my soul.
What plans have you? - should I, ?
should I, join you in your journey?
Release my mind into the wind
which guides your paths - floating,
floating, ever higher toward the heavens.
Siren of the night, born of blazing fire,
would thy touch singe the flesh?
Would thy freedom and beauty
draw me ever near, hence drop me
in the lonely woods of darkness?
Would thy warmth consume my soul,
thus complete the purpose of my being?
I have touched you with my breath
and sensed the radiance of your body -
glowing brighter in the passing breeze.
Does thy brilliance draw me,
to comfort in the heat of day, - or
is thy glimmer, only of the night?
I have leaped from my perch,
unbounded from the earth,
to draw into my bosom - my
Ember of Night.
